Hello! For my first post I thought it would be fitting to do a little introduction and tell you a little about myself. I have blogged on and off for a few years now, and after having a long break I have decided to give it another go with a fresh new blog. I hope to cover a whole range of different topics - fashion, lifestyle tips, food, activities, and anything else that take's my fancy!
So, I've put together 10 little facts which I hope you will find semi-interesting and make you feel like you know me a little better. Please say HI! in the comments and introduce yourself too! :)
1. I have recently moved home back to the remote island which I grew up on in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. It was a huge life decision but I think it's been the right one for me, my husband and our 8 year old son. Just before that, I had to move house on my own twice within a six month period - it was as horrific as it sounds, especially since I am a terrible hoarder.
2. I have my own etsy shop - The Little Nest - I sew bits and bobs for weddings, birthdays, etc. I used to do this alongside working part time in a nursery, which I absolutely loved, but since moving I now work on my shop full time.
3. I have a non-identical twin sister, we will be 30 next year and I am just not ready to be that grown up yet. We also have another sister who is just 10 months older than us (yes, my mother did have her hands full!).
4. I broke most of my toes 10 years ago ceilidh dancing and still can't wiggle them. I have been known to kick off my shoes after several drinks and make people watch as I attempt and fail to make them move more than a flinch - I honestly don't know why I always think it is something people will want to see! Also, my knees point inwards instead of forwards. It's a muscle issue which could be resolved, if only I would remember to do my physio exercises more regularly. So yeah, I'm super attractive from the thighs downwards...
5. I loathe odd numbers, and I'm not too keen on even numbers which aren't divisible by 4. I got married on 4.8.12 - if it hadn't been then I would have made him wait until 2016 because I wouldn't get married in an odd year (or 2014 because the number 14 is just an odd number in disguise). I'm not crazy, you are.
6. Ten years ago I was a wild child out drinking every night working as a bar supervisor in a nightclub where I would wear glorified lingerie and bikinis to work, I had absolutely no shame - now I am the complete opposite. I don't regret a thing though, I'm glad I had my wild days when I was young, hopefully it will stop me having a mid-life crisis pining for a lost youth!
7. I listen to Radio 2 every day and couldn't for the life of me tell you anyone who is in the charts right now (that's if they even still do the charts??) I am obsessed with 80's music. My favourite song is 99 Red Balloons and it is my life's mission to be "surprised" with a shower of 99 red balloons at some point - so far I'm still waiting for this to happen...
8. I am also obsessed with musicals after falling in love with the Wizard of Oz as a child - when I finally saw Wicked in the West End I cried most of the way through. I really don't have the patience for films though (apart from Christmas ones of course) or these box sets that everyone seems to be obsessed with right now. The only TV programmes I watch are home makeover shows, quiz shows or anything to do with weightloss or dieting - Homes Under the Hammer and Secret Eaters are my ultimate favourites!
9. I come from a family of Eurovision fanatics, we have a fancy dress party every year. We are finally actually planning on going to Eurovision for the first time next year in Lisbon - I am ludicrously excited but I'll miss watching it on the TV!
10. I completely believe that everything is predetermined by the universe - too many crazy things have happened that can't just be a coincidence - but you'll only get what you're due if you work for it, you can't just sit on your behind waiting for things to fall into your lap: "The paths of the universe may be predetermined, but the one you choose is not."
